Georgia SNAP Recipients Alerted: February Payments Worth up to $1,751 Ending Soon

The final direct payments for February are scheduled to be sent to Georgians who depend on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) in the next eight days. 

The distribution of SNAP benefits in the state begins on February 5 and concludes on February 23. The specific disbursement date is determined by the last two digits of the beneficiary’s client ID, with those ending in 90-99 scheduled to receive their benefits on February 23.

The specific sum received fluctuates depending on a range of factors, including the value of assets possessed, the size of the household, and the total income earned by the recipients.

For a single-person household, the maximum payment is $291, while a household of five can receive up to $1,155, and a household of eight is eligible for a maximum payment of $1,751. An additional $219 is allocated for each household member beyond eight.

Recipients of SNAP benefits in Georgia can utilize their funds through an electronic benefit transfer (EBT) card, akin to a debit card, at participating grocery or convenience stores.

However, certain items such as pet food, alcohol, and household goods like paper and soap are ineligible for purchase with SNAP benefits. Approximately 1.6 million people in Georgia, constituting around 15% of the state’s population, rely on SNAP assistance. 

Individuals interested in applying for SNAP benefits can visit the Georgia Department of Human Services website, specifically the Division of Family and Children’s Services section, or call 1-877-423-4746 for more information on the application process.
