Kevin Durant, the Phoenix Suns star and perennial NBA All-Star, isn’t just thinking about the present; he’s looking ahead to a future that extends well into his 40s.

In a recent interview with Michael Lee of The Washington Post, Durant shared his ambitious prediction about the longevity of his career, envisioning himself playing into his fifth decade alongside fellow basketball luminaries LeBron James and Steph Curry.

For Durant, who is currently 35 and in his 16th NBA season, the idea of playing well into his 40s seemed improbable earlier in his career.

Durant disclosed that initially, his aim was simply to reach 10 years in the league. However, as he approached that milestone and felt strong at nine or eight years, he realized he could continue playing. Durant’s confidence in his prolonged career is well-founded.

Despite suffering a devastating Achilles injury in 2019, the former MVP has made a remarkable return to peak performance, showcasing his scoring prowess with averages of 28.2 points per game this season.

Kevin Durant, the Phoenix Suns star and perennial NBA All-Star, isn’t just thinking about the present; he’s looking ahead to a future that extends well into his 40s.

Kevin Durant’s remarkable shooting percentages of 54% from the field, 44% from beyond the arc, and 87% from the free-throw line underscore his consistent excellence and adaptability in basketball.

Standing tall at 6-foot-11, Durant possesses a unique blend of size, skill, and shooting ability that has made him virtually unguardable throughout his career. With the ability to create scoring opportunities against any defender, Durant’s game is well-suited to age gracefully as he navigates the later stages of his career.

Durant’s contractual commitment to the Suns through 2026 aligns with his ambitious timeline, potentially setting the stage for a career that spans over two decades.

While retirement plans and ambitions may have to wait, Durant’s focus remains squarely on the hardwood as he continues to defy expectations and redefine what’s possible for NBA players in their twilight years.
