Former Las Vegas Raiders cornerback Damon Arnette found himself in legal trouble once again as he was arrested last month in Texas.
According to the NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Arnette was charged with possession of methamphetamine and the unlawful carrying of a firearm.
The incident took place in the Dallas area on Jan. 6 at 3:30 am While specifics leading to the arrest remain unclear, it’s reported that Arnette was allegedly found with less than a gram of methamphetamine. Despite being a felony in the state, this typically doesn’t result in jail time.
Arnette’s attorneys released a statement asserting that his arrest stemmed from his inability to provide law enforcement with a prescription for a lawful medication. This raises questions about the circumstances surrounding the arrest and Arnette’s state of affairs.
A former standout player at Ohio State, Arnette’s professional career with the Raiders was marred by legal issues and injuries. Drafted in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft, he struggled to find consistency on the field. In his rookie season, he managed 25 total tackles in nine games.

However, injuries limited his playing time over two seasons, and he was waived during the 2021 season amidst legal turmoil.
Damon Arnette’s troubles extended beyond the football field. He faced a lawsuit for an alleged hit-and-run incident and was involved in a controversial video where he appeared to threaten someone with multiple guns.
After being let go by the Raiders, Arnette had a brief stint with the Kansas City Chiefs. However, his time with the Chiefs was short-lived as he was released after being arrested on assault charges in the year 2022.
Despite expressing hope for a return to the league after resolving some of his legal issues, Arnette’s recent arrest in Texas further clouds his future in professional football.
It underscores the challenges he faces both on and off the field, raising concerns about his ability to overcome personal struggles and salvage his career in the NFL.
