Scoot Henderson’s rookie season with the Portland Trail Blazers has been a rollercoaster ride, but Friday night marked a historic low for the young guard.
Henderson recorded the lowest single-game plus/minus in NBA history during a heartbreaking loss to the Miami Heat.

This questionable record exceeds the previous record established by Manny Harris, who played for the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2011 and recorded a plus/minus of -57.
The Cavaliers were defeated 112-57 by the Los Angeles Lakers, and Harris had a nightmare game. The Cavaliers, unlike Henderson’s Blazers versus the Heat, at least stopped the Lakers from doubling their score.

The youngster has had a difficult season with plenty of ups and downs, and this regrettable achievement comes during that period.
Despite posting respectable numbers with 20 points, six rebounds, and six assists in Friday’s game, Henderson was plagued by turnovers, committing seven which contributed to Miami’s staggering 17 steals.
The Heat’s victory over the Trail Blazers marked their largest margin of victory in franchise history, perhaps fueled by lingering tensions from the offseason.
Miami may have been more motivated to score more points because Portland refused to grant Damian Lillard’s desire to be traded to Miami and instead sent him to Milwaukee. Strangely, Lillard’s plea for a trade was prompted by Portland’s pledge to rebuild around young players by selecting Henderson with the third overall choice in the draft.
Though Friday’s performance provides a sobering reminder of the difficulties associated with being a member of a rebuilding club, Henderson is seen as a key component of Portland’s future success.
