SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA – APRIL 02: Outfielder Lee Jung-Hoo #51 of the Kiwoom Heroes runs to first base in the bottom of the fifth inning during the Korean Baseball Organization (KBO) League opening game between Kiwoom Heroes and Lotte Giants at Gocheok Skydome on April 02, 2022 in Seoul, South Korea.

A major factor behind these victories has been the outstanding performance of rookie sensation Jung-hoo Lee.

The way he played against the Padres has not only made him popular among the fans but has also brought a feeling of hope to the Giants’ clubhouse.

Lee’s first home run in his blossoming MLB career filled him and his family with immense pride. While his Giants teammates were celebrating, soaked in beer and sitting on a cart, Lee couldn’t help but recognize the significance of the moment.

His family had traveled all the way from South Korea to witness his debut in the MLB, which added an emotional element to his accomplishment.

Giants Aim to Compete in 2024

Jung-hoo Lee, who has been one of the top players in the KBO for the last few years, inked a 6-year, $113 million contract with the Giants this offseason.

The team also signed reigning NL Cy Young champion Blake Snell, third baseman Matt Chapman, plus power-hitter Jorge Soler.

The team is attempting to compete in a star-studded NL West Division, with the Dodgers favored to win the division plus the World Series after signing Shohei Ohtani, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Teoscar Hernández, and others.

At the same time, the always-dangerous Padres still have a core of good players in Fernando Tatis Jr. and Manny Machado.

Also, the Arizona Diamondbacks, the defending National League Champions, are attempting to return to the World Series after falling to the Texas Rangers in October.
