26-Year-Old Chef Joey Fecci Found Dead In The Middle Of Marathon In Nashville
Joey Fecci, a “bright light of inspiration and positivity,” as described by his family, passed away suddenly during the Rock ‘n’ Roll Running Series.
What happened To Joey Fecci?
Fecci was a 26-year-old chef who had previously worked in Chicago. He unexpectedly passed away on 27 April, Saturday while participating in a marathon in Nashville. According to marathon authorities, Joey was seen unconscious during a segment of the St. Jude Rock ‘n’ Roll Running Series. Fecci was given CPR at the scene and being transported to a local hospital, according to WSMV, Nashville’s NBC station. However, he was declared dead by the doctors.

As of now, Fecci’s sudden death is said to be due to natural causes. Thus, there is no further investigation, according to reports by WSMV.
Fecci’s Work As A Chef
Joey Fecci’s career as a chef started at his birthplace, Somers, New York. According to the Tennessean, he started working as a garde manger, busboy, and pizza cook at the Lucia Restaurant when he was 15.
He interned at Charlie Palmer’s Michelin-starred Aureole in Las Vegas. Alongside, he also attended ‘The Culinary Institute of America’ in Hyde Park, New York. Later, he was employed with Tony Mantuano at the Michelin-starred Spiaggia in Chicago and as chef de partie at Per Se in New York City.
He got back together with Mantuano in 2020 and started working at the Yolan in The Joseph Hotel in Nashville. He went from chief sous chef in 2022 to chef de cuisine in just two years.
Joe Flamm, the winner of Top Chef, was among the famous chefs he collaborated with while at Yolan, overseeing the research and production of events and menus.
He was indeed a passionate chef with amazing culinary expertise and a remarkable spirit.
