The search for Quanisha Davis, 30, from Alexander City, sadly ended in tragedy when her remains were discovered on Thursday morning in the woods near Herren Street in Dadeville. Davis, reported missing on Friday, was last seen on May 17.
The Alexander City Police Department, Dadeville Police Department, Tallapoosa County Sheriff’s Department, and the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency State Bureau of Investigation were all involved in the case. Davis’ remains were found around 7:45 a.m. on Thursday, prompting the transition of the missing persons case to a homicide investigation.
During a news conference on Thursday afternoon, law enforcement expressed their condolences to Davis’ family and friends. Tallapoosa County Sheriff Jimmy Abbett announced the arrest of Robert Lee Young, 55, from Dadeville, on murder charges. Young, who was in a romantic relationship with Davis, is currently held in the Tallapoosa County Jail awaiting a bond hearing later this week. The investigators have not disclosed the specifics of the evidence leading to Young’s arrest.
The victim’s body has been sent to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences for an autopsy to determine the cause of death. Davis’ white 2006 Ford Explorer was discovered around 6:40 p.m. on Wednesday in the woods near North Loop Road in Dadeville.
