A father in Alaska tragically passed away while commemorating the fifth anniversary of his daughter’s death.

Around 1:30 p.m. local time on Sunday, June 2, Timothy Hoffman, who was on a memorial ride in Wasilla, Alaska, lost control of his motorcycle near mile 49 of the Parks Highway, according to the Alaska State Troopers.

Hoffman, reportedly not wearing his helmet, swerved off the left side of the road and rolled into the center median. Both Hoffman and his passenger, identified as his wife, Barbara “Jeanie” Hoffman by the Anchorage Daily News, were discovered unresponsive and taken to the local hospital with severe injuries. The troopers mentioned that the passenger was wearing a full-face helmet.

Jeanie is currently in critical condition with a fractured skull, broken back, and other injuries, as reported by Tanya Chaison, the fiancée of Hoffman’s twin brother to the Anchorage Daily News.

Chaison mentioned that Jeanie underwent surgery on Sunday, with more surgeries ahead as part of her recovery process.

The couple’s daughter, Cynthia Hoffman, tragically passed away on June 2, 2019, at the age of 19, in a murder-for-hire scheme involving her best friend, Denali Brehmer.

As previously covered by PEOPLE, Brehmer engaged in an online relationship with Darin Schilmiller, posing as “Tyler,” a purported millionaire from Kansas. Allegedly, Schilmiller offered Brehmer $9 million to commit a murder and send him evidence of the crime.
