Arrest Made In Miami Market Robbery: Know More Here

Sunday witnessed the arrest of a Miami woman for armed robbery at Mercy Supermarket.

As per the arrest report, on June 18, Sheina Reyes, 36, knocked on the front door, which was locked, as the clerk was cleaning the market at 6600 Biscayne Blvd. Two masked burglars entered the business and shoved the clerk behind the counter after the clerk unlocked the door for her, according to the report.

The arrest report said that while the second burglar collected lottery tickets from a room in the back and cash from the cash register, one burglar held the clerk at gunpoint. It says the robber repeatedly gave the clerk a pistol whip on his head while keeping him at gunpoint.

“He’s lucky he was not shot,” Asad Hossain, another clerk who works at the market, said.

Hossain expressed his unease about the occurrence and mentioned that the robbed clerk had been employed there for seven years and had previously been the target of other crimes.

“I don’t want to continue working here,” he said.

According to the authorities, the robbers took the money and left the store. The report states that the clerk flagged down a bystander who dialled 911. According to the report, the clerk reportedly informed the police that the burglars had visited the business earlier in the day but had left empty-handed.

Due to a wound on the back of his head, Miami Fire Rescue sent the clerk to North Shore Hospital, where he was subsequently questioned by police, according to the authorities.

According to the police report, Reyes was seen walking to the store on footage from nearby CCTV cameras, followed by the other two criminals who had hidden themselves in the shadows next to the door while Reyes was knocking.

Additional CCTV footage from that day shows Reyes going to the store in different clothes, followed by two people in masks and gloves who go inside the store before she does, according to the police. The masked people spot consumers inside and swiftly leave without purchasing anything.

According to authorities, it is evident from the surveillance film that Reyes collaborated with the two unidentified men to facilitate their entry into the store and carry out the robbery.

According to the report, police used surveillance footage to identify the vehicle used in the robbery as a grey, 2006–2011 Honda Civic with a temporary tag. The vehicle also had a BOLO issued to the Miami Tactical Robbery Division.

On Sunday, a detective observed a 2008 Honda Civic heading north on Northwest 22nd Avenue and 50th Street with a temporary tag. Upon reviewing the records, the detective discovered that the tag was not associated with the Civic.

When police pulled the vehicle over near Northwest 27th Avenue and 55th Terrace, the report stated that a record check revealed the vehicle was unregistered. Reyes was taken to the Miami Police Robbery Office for further interrogation after the Civic was towed to Miami Auto Pound and charged with traffic violations, according to the report.

Reyes confessed to the police, but the details of her testimony were left out of the arrest report that was made public.

Reyes is charged with four crimes: one offence of burglary with assault or battery, one count of felony armed robbery with a firearm or dangerous weapon, one count of felony aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, and one case of failure to register a vehicle.

Reyes was being held without bond at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on Monday.
