There are no longer any charges against the Hollywood woman who was suspected of abandoning her 4-year-old child in a hot car. The Broward County Clerk of Courts website states that Anastasiya Motalva’s third-degree felony child negligence allegation has been dropped.

Hollywood police officers are seen responding to the Sunday hot car incident outside the Walmart store on State Road 7 in body camera footage.

According to the police, the 34-year-old woman spent more than 30 minutes shopping inside the store, leaving her toddler in the car. Police claimed that the car’s window was slightly damaged, but it was not operational. When first responders came, the child was sweating and had red, flushed skin, according to the police.

The youngster was left alone to nap in the back passenger seat of the defendant’s SUV with the window down, and when the child started calling out for the defendant, law enforcement was called, according to the State Attorney Office. Last week, there was a heat advisory in effect and temperatures in the upper 90s.

“Insufficient evidence to establish that the defendant’s failure to provide her child with proper supervision rises to the egregious level of culpable negligence required for felony charge of child neglect,” according to the State Attorney’s Office.

They also disputed the chronology, claiming that Motalva may have had the window halfway down and that they thought he was in the store for ten to fifteen minutes, but they finally came to the conclusion that Motalva’s actions were irresponsible.
