Melanie Margalis Fink is an American professional swimmer born on December 30, 1991, in Clearwater, Florida, United States. Being a competitive swimmer, she is specialized in breaststroke, freestyle, and individual medley events. Currently, she is engaged with Cali Candors which is a part of the International Swimming League. Moreover, she is also known for winning a gold medal in the 2016 Summer Olympics.

Melanie Margalis completed her graduation from Countryside High School, where she was a swimmer for Saint Petersburg Aquatic. During that time, she was a 3-times state champion, holding a record in 200-yard IM. 

As her career goes by, new achievements are equipped in her profile. During her time at the University of Georgia, she helped the Georgia Bulldogs Swimming and Diving women’s team.

Melanie Margalis’ Career & Achievements

Margalis-Fink came first in the 2016 Olympics in the 4x200m freestyle relay team and came fourth in the 200m and IM, though this was very close to getting her second medal in the games. She represented the United States at the recently held 2021 Short Course Worlds, where she got a bronze in the 400 IM and ranked fourth in the 200 IM event. Margalis also has gold medals from the 2017 and 2019 long course world championships and another in the 2018 short course world championships. She also has a total of eight other medals in the World Championships.

Margalis-Fink is a seventeen-time All-American swimmer who adds that type of championship experience as she was a part of the women’s NCAA National Championship team in the years 2013 and 2014 at Georgia College. She was an equally important member of both teams; she achieved All-American in the 200-yard breaststroke, 200-yard individual medley, 400-yard individual medley, 200-yard medley relay, and the 400-yard medley relay in 2013.

Melanie Margalis’ husband, Nic Fink, is also a professional swimmer and has recently won a silver medal in the 2024 Paris Olympics in men’s 100m breaststroke.
