Jim Henson, born on the 24th of September, 1936, and died on the 16th of May, 1990, was an American puppeteer, animator, actor, and filmmaker, world-famous as the creator of The Muppets.

James Maury Henson was born in Greenville, Mississippi, into the family of Betty Marcella (1904–1972) and Paul Ransom Henson (1904–1994), who was an agriculturist with the United States Department of Agriculture.

Jim Henson’s Personal Life

Jim and Jane were married in 1954, although they first got to know each other while they were both undertaking a course in puppetry at the University of Maryland. They started working as partners immediately after the show because, you know, if they did not practice working together, they were not going to be able to pull off the show Sam and Friends.

In April 1955, he started performing his famous ‘Kermit the Frog’ on WRC-TV, which shaped the rest of his life.

Jim and Jane were married In May 1959 at her parents’ house in Salisbury, Maryland. They purchased a house in the state but later relocated to New York in 1963. The lowest level of their house was devoted to making marionettes.

How Many Children Do They Have?

Jim and Jane welcomed five kids during their marriage: These are; Lisa, Cheryl, Brian, John, and Heather. John died in 2014 from a heart attack, he was however 48 years of age.

Local media reported that “John had the deepest soul of any man alive; he was sensitive, artistic and extremely compassionate; there was no limit to his love, his family said in a statement.

Did Jim & Jane Separated?

In 1986 the couple parted ways but continued to continue with their projects and work up to the time Jim succumbed to death in 1990. The animator drawing these rolling ones died at the age of 53 from a severe bacterial infection, streptococcus pneumonia.

After Jim’s death, Jane also remained involved with the Jim Henson Foundation and was also involved in the process of hiring talents for the Muppets organization. Sadly, she succumbed to cancer and died in April 2013 at the age of 78.
