Sid Eudy, a legendary figure in professional wrestling, has passed away at the age of 63 after a long battle with cancer. The news was announced by his son, Gunnar Eudy, on Monday.
“It is with deep sadness that I share the passing of my father, Sid Eudy, after several years of fighting cancer,” Gunnar wrote on Facebook. “He was a man of immense strength, kindness, and love, and his absence will be profoundly felt. We appreciate your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.”
Eudy, a six-time world champion, was known for his imposing presence and intense style in the ring. Standing at 6 feet 9 inches and weighing over 300 pounds, he began his professional wrestling career in 1987 with Continental Championship Wrestling (CCW), where he first competed under the name “Lord Humongous.” His career soon skyrocketed as he became one of the most formidable villains in wrestling, a role he played to perfection against some of the biggest stars of his era.
Throughout his illustrious career, Eudy was known by various monikers, including “Sid Vicious” in WCW and “Sid Justice” and “Sycho Sid” in WWE. Despite not being a member of the WWE Hall of Fame, he was a key figure in matches with numerous Hall of Famers and was a prominent force in the wrestling world during the late 1980s and 1990s.
Eudy’s career highlights include his time in WCW as part of the iconic Four Horsemen faction alongside Ric Flair, Arn Anderson, and Barry Windham. He also had memorable feuds with wrestling greats such as Sting, Hulk Hogan, Shawn Michaels, The Undertaker, Bret Hart, and Randy Savage. As a tag team wrestler, he and partner Dan Spivey had legendary battles with the Steiner Brothers and Road Warriors.
However, Eudy’s career was nearly cut short on January 14, 2001, during a pay-per-view match titled “Sin” in Indianapolis. Facing Scott Steiner, Jeff Jarrett, and Road Warrior Animal, Eudy attempted his signature big boot move from the second turnbuckle. Tragically, he landed with all his weight on his left leg, causing a gruesome injury that snapped his tibia and fibula.
