‘Died for nothing’: Woman learns fate after admitting to killing professor and father of 2 she met on app

An Ohio woman who admitted to fatally shooting a Cleveland State University professor on the day they met after connecting through a chat app has received her sentencing. Terreionna Paschal, 32, was sentenced to 23 years to life in prison for the April 19, 2023, murder of Todd A. Morgan, 41, a father of two. The Summit County Prosecutor, Elliot Kolkovich, announced the news on Thursday. Paschal had pleaded guilty to aggravated murder with a gun specification the day before and will be eligible for parole after serving 23 years.

During the sentencing, Morgan’s mother, Sandy Morgan, pleaded with the court for the harshest punishment, expressing her deep grief over her son’s death. “Todd’s not here to tell his story,” she said. “Only God, Todd, and you know the truth of what happened on April 19. All I know is he was brutally murdered by you, and he died for nothing.”

Sandy further emphasized the devastation caused by the loss, adding, “You didn’t even know him. Your actions changed my life forever, and you took a father from two beautiful children, who were his world.” In response, Paschal apologized to the family, stating, “I’m very sorry, and I hope one day you can find it in your hearts to forgive me.”

The case unfolded after police conducted a welfare check at Morgan’s home when he failed to pick up his 4-year-old daughter from school. Authorities found Morgan dead from gunshot wounds to the head and torso. Investigators discovered shell casings and a bloody shoe print at the scene, and witnesses reported seeing a person with long dark hair leaving the home.
