Family looking for missing woman finds her body in the desert, California cops say

She was reported missing in California, and her body was found in the desert by her family, according to sheriff’s officials there. The bones discovered at approximately 9:12 a.m. close to Yucaipa. have been recognized as those of Lake Elsinore resident Amy Porter, 43, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department reported in a news release on Sunday, September 22. Porter, a Morongo Band of Mission Indians member, was last seen around Lake Elsinore on September 14, according to KTLA.

A “Feather Alert” was sent out by the California Highway Patrol in regards to a missing Native American. After learning that Porter’s car had been hauled out of the region, her family started looking for him in the desert close to Yucaipa, according to KCAL. Porter’s younger brother initially found her dead, the family informed KTLA.

In response, cousin Angelica Lyons told KCAL, “I ran as fast as I could to her and I didn’t even see her.” “I could tell it was her just by her tattoo when I saw her foot.” How Porter died will be determined by an autopsy, according to sheriff’s authorities. Lyons stated to KABC, “Unfortunately, we had to find her.”
