Police make arrest in case of woman’s burned body found in Hollywood alley

In relation to the case of a woman’s charred body discovered in a Hollywood alley in mid-August, authorities have detained a man. Charges against Marquis Denmark, 41, of West Park, include failing to notify the medical examiner of a death and mistreating a deceased person’s body in relation to the August 12 discovery at North 21st Avenue and Fillmore Street. Denmark was taken into jail by Hallandale Beach police on Wednesday when they spotted him in OB Johnson Park, which is located at 1000 NW Eighth Ave., after hours, according to an arrest record. According to the report, an officer found ecstasy tablets in his pocket and outstanding warrants in the Hollywood case during that meeting.

The woman, who has not yet been recognized, is named as Jane Doe in an arrest warrant dated October 7. No information about the inquiry, including how police connected Denmark to the gory discovery, is described in the brief document. Authorities have not yet stated whether they believe Denmark knew the lady, and as of Thursday afternoon, he had not been directly linked to her death. According to online records, he was being held on a $26,000 bond at the Broward Main Jail.
