Liam Payne had multiple drugs in body at time of death

The findings of toxicology tests are throwing some light on the terrible death of Liam Payne last week. The 31-year-old former member of One Direction had several drugs in his system when he died on October 16 after falling from the third-floor balcony of his hotel room in Buenos Aires, Argentina, according to a partial autopsy, sources tell ABC News. These substances included crack, cocaine, benzodiazepines, and “pink cocaine,” a recreational drug that is usually a combination of other drugs, such as methamphetamine, ketamine, MDMA, and others. The sources also claimed to have discovered an improvised aluminum pipe used for drug ingestion in his hotel room.

The sources also told ABC News that Payne’s remains will stay in Argentina until the autopsy is finished. Authorities were contacted by hotel personnel before to Payne’s death, requesting that they “send someone with urgency” because of a visitor who was allegedly “drunk with drugs and alcohol.” “We need to send someone with urgency because I don’t know if the guest’s life is in danger because he is in a room with balcony, and we are afraid he could do something that threatens life,” the employee stated to emergency personnel.

Alberto Crescenti, the director of SAME, Buenos Aires Emergency Medical Services, told ABC News that Payne’s body was discovered in the hotel’s inner courtyard when officials arrived about seven minutes later. He was declared dead at the site.

The Argentine Public Prosecutor’s Office preliminary autopsy report stated that Payne passed away from “multiple traumas” and “internal and external bleeding.” Payne’s body was believed to have 25 injuries. According to the investigation, Payne’s head injuries were enough to result in his death, and the height of his fall was a contributing factor. “Multiple substances and broken objects” were discovered in Payne’s hotel room, the Buenos Aires Security Ministry earlier told ABC News.

Authorities have questioned a hotel staff member who may have given Payne drugs the day before he passed away, according to the Argentine State Police, which ABC News was told. As of right now, neither an arrest nor any charges have been brought against that employee.
