Months after the investigation began into the tragic shooting of a Sonic Drive-in employee on the Northwest Side of San Antonio, authorities have announced that they have finally apprehended the individual suspected of being the shooter.
According to a statement from the U.S. Marshals, a 17-year-old suspect was arrested on Tuesday, October 22, in Dallas in connection with the fatal shooting of 33-year-old Daniel Lacy Shrewsbury. The shooting occurred on July 7, and after months of investigation, authorities have now taken the teenager into custody.
Adiah Namir Roberson, a teenager, has been accused of fatally shooting 33-year-old Daniel Lacy Shrewsbury at a Sonic Drive-In located at 5510 Babcock Road, between Huebner Road and Hamilton Wolfe.
At the time of the incident, officials informed MySA that Shrewsbury, who was a manager at the Sonic location, became involved in a dispute with Roberson over money. This argument quickly escalated, culminating in Roberson pulling out a firearm and shooting Shrewsbury, as reported by the San Antonio Police Department (SAPD).
“The arrested individual, and two others, allegedly murdered the manager after attempting to purchase food with counterfeit money,” the release states.
After being shot, Daniel Lacy Shrewsbury retreated into the Sonic restaurant, where emergency medical services (EMS) arrived but ultimately pronounced him dead at the scene. According to police reports, the teenager, Adiah Namir Roberson, fled the scene in a vehicle driven by Joshua Albert Joseph. Joseph was later arrested and charged with murder on August 16.
On July 16, the Texas Department of Public Safety issued a warrant for Adiah Namir Roberson’s arrest in connection with the shooting. Shortly afterward, she was placed on the Texas 10 Most Wanted Fugitive list, intensifying the search efforts to bring her into custody.
After a nearly four-month-long investigation, authorities finally located Adiah Namir Roberson in North Texas. The U.S. Marshals Service tracked her down at an apartment complex in the 100 block of Pleasant Drive in Dallas. Once her location was confirmed, she was swiftly apprehended and taken into custody, according to the official release.
