On Thursday, former Miami-Dade Police Director Freddy Ramirez declared his endorsement of James Reyes in the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s election. Having served with the Broward County Sheriff’s Office for 22 of his 25 years in law enforcement, Reyes is currently the Miami-Dade Police’s chief of public safety. “Remember, we will no longer be the MDPD; this will be the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s office,” Ramirez stated. “We need someone who has been in that environment, who comes from a reputable agency, and who knows what it takes to hold it all together and move forward as we transition with those sheriff powers.”

After he shot himself and lost his right eye last year, Ramirez lost the top spot. He currently serves as the mayor of Miami-Dade County’s senior advisor. Ramirez shot himself and lost his right eye last year, which caused him to lose the top spot. He currently works with the county fire department and serves as a senior advisor to Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine-Cava. Reyes downplayed worries that Ramirez’s support would harm his candidacy.

Reyes declared, “I am not considering what it does in relation to my campaign.” “Freddy is obviously a well-liked part of our group, in my opinion. I support him and am very grateful that he would believe in me with such assurance. Not too long ago, former Miami Beach Mayor Philip Levine endorsed Republican candidate Rosie Cordero-Stutz over her opponent. He stated, “She has worked for Miami-Dade Police for 28 years.” “She is competent, which is why I’m voting for her.”

During his 28 years with Miami-Dade Police, Stutz began as a patrol officer, progressed through the ranks as a sergeant, lieutenant, major, and assistant director, and worked in homicide and robbery. Former President Donald Trump has also endorsed her. “Don’t allow your party to interfere with the person who will ensure your family’s safety in Miami-Dade County,” Levine said.
