Two people were taken to the Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital following a boat fire near Pelican Harbor Marina in North Bay Village.
The incident occurred this afternoon when Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded to a call on the 1200 block of Northeast 79th Street, where they found a boat engulfed in flames.
The fire department told Local 10 that firefighters worked quickly to put out the intense flames on the boat.
City of Miami Fire Rescue, along with multiple other agencies, promptly arrived at the scene to tackle the fire. Firefighters used fire-retardant foam to smother the flames and prevent the blaze from spreading further, working together to bring the situation under control swiftly.
Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the fire, but they have yet to release specific details about what led to the incident. At this time, no additional information has been made public as officials continue their examination of the circumstances surrounding the blaze.
Both individuals involved have been classified as trauma alerts, as reported by officials from Miami-Dade Fire Rescue in their statements to WSVN. However, the authorities have not provided any information regarding the specific conditions of the victims at this time.
Aerial footage from NBC Miami captured thick smoke billowing from the boat, forming a dark plume. The rapid and coordinated response from both City of Miami Fire Rescue and Miami-Dade Fire Rescue showcased their preparedness for emergency situations. Their prompt efforts were crucial in extinguishing the fire and averting a potentially larger disaster.
