The Delaware State Police are actively investigating a shooting that occurred this morning in the parking lot of the Biden Welcome Center in Newark, Delaware, leaving a man injured. The incident took place around 7 a.m. at the Biden Welcome Center, which is located along Interstate 95 at 530 John F. Kennedy Memorial Highway. Authorities are working to piece together the details of the shooting and identify the circumstances leading up to the injury.

According to the preliminary investigation, a 45-year-old man from Goshen, New York, had stopped at the Biden Welcome Center service station while traveling. While he was at the location, an unknown suspect or group of suspects approached him. The victim was then robbed before being shot, police reported.

When Delaware State Police troopers arrived at the scene, they found the victim lying on the ground in the parking lot near the Starbucks. The man was quickly transported to a nearby hospital, where he was treated for injuries that authorities say do not appear to be life-threatening.

At this moment, authorities have not released any descriptions of the suspect or suspects involved in the shooting, and the exact circumstances leading up to the incident are still under investigation by the Delaware State Police.

Officials have stated that they believe the shooting to be an isolated event and have assured the public that there is no indication of any ongoing threat to safety in the area. Investigators are continuing to gather information to better understand the situation.
