UnitedHealthcare CEO Murder Shocker: Suspect Captured in Dramatic Pennsylvania McDonald’s Arrest
According to a person familiar with the case, an Ivy League graduate was arrested at a McDonald’s in Pennsylvania for the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson after a witness identified him from police-distributed photos of the suspect. This information was reported by Fox News Digital. Luigi Mangione, a 26-year-old software developer, was found with a rifle and silencer that resembled those used in the Wednesday shooting, according to the source. He also had four phony identification documents with him, according to the New York Post, one of which was the same name that the accused shooter used to check into a hostel on the Upper West Side.
The New York Times was informed by a senior law enforcement official that Mangione documented complaints against health care businesses for maximizing profits above care in the handwritten document. Around 9:15 a.m., a witness reportedly recognized the man’s face from wanted posters and alerted authorities, according to the police source. At the time of publication, Fox News Digital did not receive a response from the Altoona Police Department, where Mangione was brought. According to a press release from the department, he was taken into custody on additional counts.
A few hours after Mangione was arrested, NYPD officers showed up at the department. About 100 miles to the east of Pittsburgh is the city of Altoona. Mangione of Towsom, Maryland, graduated with a Master’s degree in engineering and computer science from the University of Pennsylvania, according to his LinkedIn profile, and was named valedictorian of his Baltimore prep school class in 2016, according to the school newspaper.
According to his LinkedIn profile, he has been employed by TrueCar Inc. for the past four years as a software developer. According to law enforcement authorities who spoke to the Post, Mangione’s online behavior revealed that he supported anti-capitalist and climate change causes and expressed contempt for the condition of American healthcare. According to Mangione’s Goodreads profile, he enjoys reading anything from Aldous Huxley to Socrates to Unabomber Ted Kaczynski’s works.
