Walmart Inc. recalls Marketside Fresh Cut Cucumber Slices made in select stores due to a possible Salmonella contamination. This recall was initiated because the product may contain recalled whole cucumbers supplied by SunFed Produce, LLC. SunFed was notified by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) that the cucumbers described above were linked to reported salmonellosis illnesses between October 12 and November 15, 2024. Marketside Fresh Cut Cucumber Slices, made in select retailers, were sold in 34 Walmart locations in Texas.

About Salmonella infections:

Food contaminated with Salmonella germs does not typically seem, smell, or taste bad. Anyone can get sick from a Salmonella infection. Infants, children, the elderly, and those with compromised immune systems are more vulnerable to serious illness.

Anyone who consumed recalled cucumbers and got signs of Salmonella illness should seek medical assistance. Sick persons should inform their doctors about any probable Salmonella bacteria exposure since salmonellosis requires special diagnostic tests. Salmonella infection symptoms might be mistaken for those of other infections, resulting in many misdiagnoses.

Salmonella infection can cause diarrhea, stomach pains, and fever within 12 to 72 hours of ingesting contaminated food. Otherwise, healthy adults usually get sick for four to seven days. However, in extreme circumstances, diarrhea can be so severe that patients must be hospitalized. Older folks, children, pregnant women, and people with compromised immune systems, such as cancer patients, are more susceptible to suffering severe illnesses and potentially fatal disorders. Some individuals may become infected without being unwell or exhibiting any symptoms. However, they may still infect others.
