NFL Week 15 Shocker: Commanders Upset Eagles, Vikings and Lions Extend Red-Hot Streaks
Jayden Daniels delivered a thrilling finish as the Washington Commanders edged the visiting Philadelphia Eagles 36-33. With just six seconds left on the clock, Daniels connected with Jamison Crowder for a 9-yard touchdown, capping a dramatic 57-yard drive in the final minutes. Jeremy McNichols’ successful two-point conversion sealed the win for Washington (10-5).
The Eagles (12-3), who lost quarterback Jalen Hurts to a concussion in the first quarter, leaned on Jake Elliott’s two late field goals to take a 33-28 lead with under two minutes remaining. Backup quarterback Kenny Pickett completed 14 of 24 passes for 143 yards, one touchdown, and one interception, while Saquon Barkley rushed for 150 yards and two scores.
Daniels, in a career-defining performance, threw for 258 yards, five touchdowns, and two interceptions, while also rushing for 81 yards. Olamide Zaccheus had five receptions for 70 yards and two touchdowns, helping Washington overcome five turnovers to end the Eagles’ 10-game winning streak.
Vikings 27, Seahawks 24
Sam Darnold and Justin Jefferson teamed up for a game-winning 39-yard touchdown pass as the Minnesota Vikings rallied to defeat the Seattle Seahawks. The Vikings (13-2) notched their eighth consecutive win and stayed tied with Detroit atop the NFC North.
Seattle (8-7) briefly took the lead late in the fourth quarter when Geno Smith connected with AJ Barner for a 4-yard touchdown. However, Darnold’s quick 70-yard drive ensured Minnesota reclaimed victory.
Darnold threw for 246 yards and three touchdowns, two of which went to Jefferson, who racked up 10 receptions for 144 yards. Geno Smith had a strong showing with 314 passing yards, three touchdowns, and two interceptions. Jaxon Smith-Njigba added eight receptions for 95 yards and a score for Seattle, who now trail the Los Angeles Rams in the NFC West.
Lions 34, Bears 17
The Detroit Lions (13-2) dominated the Chicago Bears, solidifying their spot atop the NFC standings and setting a franchise record for victories. Jared Goff threw for 336 yards and three touchdowns, while Jahmyr Gibbs added 109 rushing yards and a score.
Jameson Williams was Goff’s top target, hauling in five catches for 143 yards and a touchdown. Detroit capitalized on two early turnovers by Chicago (4-11) to build a 20-0 lead.
Despite Caleb Williams’ 334 passing yards and two touchdowns, the Bears suffered their ninth straight loss. Keenan Allen led Chicago’s receiving corps with nine catches for 141 yards and a touchdown.
Falcons 34, Giants 7
Rookie quarterback Michael Penix Jr. shined in his first career start, guiding the Atlanta Falcons to a decisive 34-7 victory over the New York Giants. Penix completed 18 of 27 passes for 202 yards, with Bijan Robinson contributing 94 rushing yards and two touchdowns.
The Falcons (8-7) moved into first place in the NFC South after Tampa Bay’s loss to Dallas. Atlanta’s defense also made its mark, with Jessie Bates III and Matthew Judon each returning interceptions for touchdowns.
The Giants (2-13) set a franchise record with their 10th straight loss. Drew Lock threw for 239 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions, with Malik Nabers leading New York receivers with 68 yards on seven catches.
