Do you recognize this individual dressed as Santa Claus? Florida Highway Patrol troopers are seeking assistance in identifying the suspect who was seen riding a motorcycle at 120 mph on Saturday night in Citrus County.
“Do you recognize this Santa Claus? Florida Highway Patrol troopers are requesting the public’s help in identifying a person dressed as Santa who was seen speeding at 120 mph on a motorcycle Saturday night in Citrus County. The incident occurred around 9 p.m. at County Road 486 and Brandywine Terrace. Dashcam footage shared by FHP Tampa shows a trooper trying to pull over the motorcyclist, who was wearing Santa’s iconic red suit with white fur. According to authorities, the rider was swerving through traffic in a dangerously reckless manner.”
The dashcam footage shows the trooper activating their flashing lights behind the motorcycle, as “Santa Claus” signals a right turn. However, instead of pulling over, the motorcyclist veered through the gas station pumps and made a quick turn back onto the road, accelerating away from the scene.
While it’s possible that Santa was running late delivering presents, it’s also possible that someone was impersonating him to evade the police. Either way, Florida Highway Patrol is asking the public to help identify “Ol’ St. Nick.” Anyone who recognizes him or has information is urged to call *FHP (*347).
In a lighthearted statement, FHP joked, “The sleigh must be in the shop, but last night Mr. Claus didn’t pause for any cause.” Authorities added that the motorcycle involved was white with blue trim.
