Fort Lauderdale experienced two separate shootings on Christmas Day, leaving one person dead and another injured, authorities reported.

The first incident occurred around 11:15 a.m. outside the Presidente Supermarket on Northwest 9th Avenue. Emergency responders arrived at the scene and transported a man to the hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Just over an hour later, a second shooting took place half a block away at Northwest 8th Street and 10th Terrace. In this case, the victim was taken to the hospital and is expected to recover.

Police have not yet identified either of the victims or disclosed details about possible suspects or motives. The close proximity and timing of the incidents have raised questions about whether the shootings are connected.

Authorities are continuing their investigation into the events, and anyone with information is urged to contact the Fort Lauderdale Police Department.

As the community reels from the violence, residents have expressed concern over safety, calling for heightened vigilance and justice for the victims.
