Shocking Crash After Violent Fight Over $9,000 Chain – Suspect Found Unconscious at the Scene in WPB

After reportedly attempting to pull a $9,000 gold necklace off a driver, which led to a struggle and a collision with a tree in West Palm Beach, a guy was imprisoned on New Year’s Eve. Officers were called to a robbery along 54th Street and Broadway, according to the West Palm Beach Police Department (WPBPD). Officers found Eric Vontrell Moorer, 47, laying on the grass, breathing shallowly and in and out of consciousness. Next to him was a black Volkswagen Passat that had struck a tree. The front bumper of the car was totally wrecked.

Moorer was recognized from prior run-ins with the law, including an arrest in April for fentanyl possession. The victim said to the police that Moorer approached his automobile in a panicky manner while he was traveling south on Broadway. Moorer reached inside the car and attempted to take the victim’s $9,000 gold Cuban link chain from his neck when the victim rolled down his window to help. In an effort to push Moorer away, the victim sped up his car, but Moorer clung to it, causing the car to crash into a tree.

“Give me the chain, give me the chain,” Moore allegedly yelled at the victim multiple times before collapsing. According to the police inquiry, Moorer suffered a quarter-sized cut on his scalp as a result of the collision, which was consistent with hair discovered on the car’s windshield. The victim’s car sustained serious damage in the collision. Moorer was unable to make a statement at the scene because of his injuries. Moorer was arrested on several charges, including robbery, burglary of an inhabited conveyance, and criminal mischief, based on the evidence gathered during the investigation.
