Northeastern Laramie, southeast Platte, and southwest Goshen counties are under a snow squall warning. Early on Thursday, the National Weather Service (NWS) issued a warning, cautioning against travel because of potentially fatal weather.
Abrupt whiteouts were triggered by the severe storm, which was sighted 9 miles northeast of Whitaker and was traveling south at 35 mph.
Visibility is currently less than a quarter mile due to intense snow bursts, gusts of up to 60 mph, and blowing snow. The NWS reports that the warning will be in effect until 3:30 a.m. MST.
Situation Might Become Hazardous
Travelers on I-25 and US-85 must contend with hazardous road conditions due to snow and wind. There are more than 3,000 people living in the affected area.
Authorities advise motorists to postpone their trip until the alert period is over. Road users should exercise extreme caution and be ready for conditions that change quickly.
