Frigid Weather Hits Albany: Wind Chill Warning and Snow

0

Today, Albany and the surrounding counties are experiencing dangerous circumstances due to sporadic snow showers and dangerous wind chills. With gusts of up to 50 mph, a wind advisory is in force until 7 p.m.

The National Weather Service reports that wind chills are being as low as 15 below zero at higher elevations and in the single digits in the Hudson Valley. By lunchtime, the snow showers should subside, but blustery weather is predicted to last throughout the evening.

Snow drift can cause sloppy roads, especially on major highways like I-87 and Route 9. It is recommended that residents dress in layers, keep loose outside goods locked, and restrict their outdoor activities.
