Following an altercation on May 7, 2019, Franklyn Delanoy Williams, 51, is charged with two counts of second-degree murder for stabbing his girlfriend Sophia Simpson, 35, and her cousin Gabrella Griffith, 27.
Prosecutors, however, dismissed the self-defense argument, pointing out that Simpson had over fifty wounds when she was discovered, whereas her relative had only ten. “Ladies and gentlemen, he assaults her with the knife and stabs her fifty times, mostly in the back. During closing arguments, prosecutor Lindsay Davis stated, “The neck, the back, the back of the head.” “And she has defense wounds on her hand, in trying to shield and protect herself.” After roughly two hours of discussion, the jury swiftly returned its decision on Friday afternoon. Williams now faces up to life in prison.
