Police quickly set up a perimeter and blocked off a large section of downtown, including the area from Banyan Boulevard to Clematis Street and Rosemary Avenue to Sapodilla Avenue. The West Palm Beach Police headquarters was partially evacuated, and the nearby Sapodilla parking garage was closed to traffic and pedestrians.
