Man charged with murder in 2024 Miami house fire that left 1 dead

Marcus Sanchez, 43, has been charged with second-degree murder with a weapon and two counts of first-degree arson in connection with a 2024 house fire in Miami that killed one person, according to the City of Miami Department of Fire-Rescue. Crews responded to the fire at 3056 Southwest 13th Street just before 2 a.m. on August 18 and discovered heavy. According to the report, Sanchez was rushed to the hospital after suffering significant burns on his body.

During the inquiry, the fire marshal deployed an accelerant detection K-9, which positively identified accelerants found on Sanchez’s shoes. According to the complaint, an officer went to a Chevron gas station at 1000 SW 27th Ave., where video film showed Sanchez filling a gas can from a pump. The Miami-Dade Medical Examiners Officer determined that the victim died as a result of a homicide.
