The Pinal County Sheriff’s Office has reported that residents in the southwest section of Queen Valley are no longer under “GO” evacuation orders as a result of a brush fire. As firefighters continue to tackle hotspots, Queen Valley residents under the previous order have returned to “SET” status. The Queen Valley Fire Department reported that development was halted Thursday afternoon. The sheriff’s office reported that approximately 180 residents were evacuated but have subsequently been permitted to return to their houses.

According to an official with the Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management, the fire destroyed around 3-5 acres of state land in the southwest section of Queen Valley. Firefighters are currently doing mop up work. The cause of the fire is being investigated. The presence of strong winds in this area had raised concerns. People in this region were instructed to evacuate to the Queen Valley Community Center shelter or to family or friends living outside of the affected area. Residents in Queen Valley’s north and west are in “READY” category. Queen Valley is located east of the Phoenix Metro, north of US 60 between Apache Junction and Superior.
