A single-vehicle collision on Illinois Route 176 close to Millstream Road on Saturday left a Rockford man critically injured. The collision was attended to by emergency personnel around 7:23 a.m. A seriously damaged 2019 Ford Mustang was discovered by the Union Fire Protection District, Marengo Fire and Rescue Districts, and McHenry County Sheriff’s Office when they arrived.

Before swerving into the eastbound lane, the Mustang was traveling west on Illinois Route 176, according to the sheriff’s office. After that, the car turned off the road to the south and collided with multiple trees. In Rockford, the 32-year-old driver was sent to Javon Bea Hospital-Riverside. He is still in critical condition. The driver was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision, and officials verified that airbags had deployed. Investigators don’t think drinking played a role in the tragedy. The McHenry County Sheriffโ€™s Office Major Traffic Crash Investigation Unit continues to investigate. Authorities have not released further details.
