Liverpool 4-2 Tottenham: Premier League – as it happened
That was an incredibly exciting match between two teams who aren’t fans of a defensive low block. Liverpool took a commanding 4-0 lead, with Harvey Elliott scoring a fantastic goal, but then allowed Spurs to claw their way back into the game in the final quarter.
The substitute Richarlison not only scored a goal but also set up another for Son, showing impressive attacking prowess against the Liverpool defense. If he consistently played with such intensity every week, he could easily be valued at £200m. A third goal for Spurs would have added more excitement, especially considering last season’s matches, but Liverpool remained strong and even had chances to make it 5-2 on the counterattack.
Liverpool’s victory was well-deserved. This performance might be their best since the 1-1 draw against Manchester City in March, and it’s been a while since they had this much enjoyment on the field. Liverpool lost focus at 4-0, and Spurs capitalized on it.
Skipp found Richarlison with too much space, facing away from the goal 10 yards out. With not enough time to turn, Richarlison cleverly laid it off to Son, who skillfully placed a shot past Alisson.
There was a VAR check for offside, but the goal stood. Son has now become the first visiting player to score in four consecutive Premier League games at Anfield.
