Houston: An hour south of Houston, in Angleton, the Angleton Police Department announced on Wednesday night that Ava Phillips had been located following her sudden Tuesday morning departure from her school. A press announcement stated, “Ava Phillips is safe and has been reunited with her family.” “No further information at this time.”

The teenager was last observed getting into a car at 10 a.m. after leaving school. She expressed worries for her mother Kailey Perez’s safety when she called her later that day from a banned number. “I don’t think she’s in control, and she sounded scared,” Perez said.

“She promised to return home, but she hasn’t.” Perez went on, “All I want is for her to get home safely. She sounds so afraid. She speaks quite shakily. She doesn’t seem to be in charge. I believe someone is dictating to her what to say. Perez continued, saying there might be information on Ava’s location from a boy who she claims was emotionally abusive to her.

Ava left the school with her boyfriend, according to information provided to police, according to a news release. It’s unclear if the boyfriend is the same boy who Perez claimed to have abused her daughter emotionally. “She’s a lovely, kind girl who would never flee,” Perez continued. She left her keys, phone, and backpack inside her car, which was discovered in the school’s parking lot.

She was seen by witnesses getting into a white Toyota Corolla and then leaving for her fourth period lesson. Ava is 5-foot-2 with long brown hair, blonde highlights, and dimples. She was last seen wearing black sweatpants, a gray crop top, and slippers, and her hair was in a loose braid.
