Weld County Man Sentenced to 112 Years for Sexual Assault on Two Young Girls

A Weld County man, James Pinker, was sentenced to 112 years to life in prison after being convicted of sexually assaulting two five-year-old girls in 2021. Pinker, 34, was found guilty in June of four counts of sexual assault on a child, demonstrating a pattern of abuse.

The sentencing took place on August 30, where a Weld County judge handed down the 112-year sentence, ensuring Pinker will spend the rest of his life in the Colorado Department of Corrections.

According to the Weld County District Attorney’s Office, the case came to light on December 12, 2021, when a deputy responded to the Medical Center of the Rockies. The two young victims had reported that they were sexually assaulted at a home in Weld County while visiting a family member. The girls described how they were playing a game called “Monsters” when Pinker approached them and initiated a disturbing “kissing” game, which involved inappropriate contact and making the children undress.

During the sentencing hearing, a 17-year-old girl also testified, revealing that Pinker had sexually abused her as a child as well.

Deputy District Attorney Timothy McCormack condemned Pinker’s actions, stating, “The defendant’s actions were not only heinous, but he shattered the innocence and lives of several young children. This sentence reflects the gravity of his crimes and the justice deserved for his victims. Protecting children in our community is at the core of our priorities, and while no punishment can undo the harm he caused, the Court’s decision ensures that he will never have the chance to harm another child again.”
