“America’s Got Talent” Crowns Singing Janitor Richard Goodall as Winner
Richard Goodall, known as the “singing janitor” from Indiana, has been crowned the latest winner of America’s Got Talent. Goodall, who captured the hearts of viewers with his viral audition performance of Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believin’,” took home the top prize during the show’s finale on Tuesday night.
Wearing his signature paperboy hat, Goodall beat out nine other finalists, including the Tanzanian acrobats Hakuna Matata Acrobats, Zimbabwean comedian Learnmore Jonasi, and Japanese dance group AIRFOOTWORKS. In the final moments, the competition came down to Goodall and the dog act duo from Israel, Roni Sagi and Rhythm.
The highlight of the night was Goodall’s on-stage collaboration with Neal Schon of Journey, where they performed “Don’t Stop Believin’,” the song that propelled Goodall to fame.
Throughout his time on AGT, Goodall captivated audiences with performances of Michael Bolton’s “How Am I Supposed to Live Without You,” Survivor’s “Eye of the Tiger,” and Journey’s “Faithfully.” The finale also featured appearances by Olympic gold medalist Simone Biles, Michael Bublé, Steve Aoki, Gabriel Iglesias, and Andra Day.
The judges—Heidi Klum, Simon Cowell, Howie Mandel, Sofía Vergara—and host Terry Crews were thrilled with Goodall’s win, which was well-deserved after his unforgettable performances throughout the season.
