Update: Missing 10-Year-Old Girl Found Safe in Webster Parish
WEBSTER PARISH, La. (KSLA) — In a positive turn of events, the Louisiana State Police confirmed that a 10-year-old girl who was reported missing has been found safe as of Tuesday afternoon. The girl was located around 1 p.m. in a wooded area near her home on Magnolia Road in Dubberly.
After her discovery, she was promptly checked by medical personnel and appears to be in good health, though she will undergo further evaluation to ensure her well-being.
The search for the girl began just after midnight on Tuesday, October 8, after she was reported missing. Officials stated that she was last seen wearing a yellow and pink tie-dye shirt, yellow shorts, and blue/purple Crocs. Authorities believed she may have been traveling on foot, prompting a coordinated search effort by law enforcement.
The Webster Parish Sheriff’s Office led the search, utilizing dog tracking teams from multiple agencies to comb the wooded areas surrounding her home. Sheriff Jason Parker emphasized the importance of maintaining the integrity of the search area, asking community members to refrain from entering the woods to assist in the search. “We’re using dog tracking teams, and the scent could be disturbed by persons entering the search area,” Parker noted.
This incident was not the first time the girl had gone missing. She was previously reported missing during the late hours of Saturday, September 14, when she was located by police using thermal imaging. Investigators at that time suggested she may have been sleepwalking and had wandered out of her home.
As authorities continue to assess the situation and evaluate the girl’s condition, the community breathes a sigh of relief, grateful for her safe return.
