337

The Minnesota Vikings made a trade with the New York Jets on Thursday, April 25, acquiring the 10th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft to select J.J. McCarthy, the former Michigan quarterback.

In the exchange, the Vikings sent the 11th pick, a fourth-round pick, and a fifth-round selection to the Jets for the 10th pick and a sixth-round pick.

McCarthy, the fifth quarterback chosen in the first round, had a remarkable season, boasting a 72.3% completion rate, 2,991 yards, 22 touchdowns, and four interceptions in the previous season. He accumulated a total of 44 touchdowns and just nine interceptions over his final two seasons with the Wolverines, including winning a national title in January.

On the Jets’ side, they used the 11th pick to draft Olumuyiwa Fashanu, a former Penn State offensive tackle. It’s always exciting to see the NFL Draft unfold and witness talented players like McCarthy and Fashanu making their mark in professional football.
