Edward Gardner Missing Explained:

Gardner, aged 24, is described as 5-foot-11 and weighing 160 pounds. He was reported missing on March 13, 2022. The Oswego Police Department has worked with roughly 30 agencies, including the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Drug Enforcement Administration, to locate Gardner. Police stated they found “additional associates” of Gardner and attempted to speak with them, but “a few have been murdered,” and others refused to cooperate when interviewed.

At the time of publication, police had not provided any new information about the associates who were allegedly slain, nor had they responded to Patch’s request for comment. “Oswego Police continue to work on expanding the investigation as opportunities and leads arise,” police said in a Friday press release.

Multiple agencies have performed searches, including side sonar scans of the Chicago River. Officials said the most recent large-scale search occurred in March, a year after Gardner went missing when Oswego police and other law enforcement agencies combed about 170 acres of a Cook County forest preserve.

A few weeks after Gardner was reported missing, authorities stated his rental automobile was involved in a multi-car accident in Hammond, Indiana. According to a March 2022 news release, the driver and passenger in the rented car, a 2021 white Dodge Charger with Florida license plates, fled the incident scene. Based on information gathered throughout the collision investigation, police think Gardner was not one of the occupants. Officials continue to request that anybody with information regarding Gardner contact the Oswego Police Department at 630-551-7300 or phone 911. You can also report information anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 630-553-5999.
