Oregon Nurse Found Dead After Days of Search, Neighbor Arrested for Murder
A tragic incident unfolded in Beaverton, Oregon, as 32-year-old Melissa Jubane, a cardiac nurse at St. Vincent Hospital in Southwest Portland, was found dead on Saturday, September 7, just days after she mysteriously disappeared. Jubane, who had recently returned from her wedding in Hawaii, went missing on September 4, sparking concern among her friends and family when she failed to show up for her morning shift.
According to Beaverton Police, officers were called to conduct a welfare check at Jubane’s apartment in the Five Oaks neighborhood after she could not be reached. Despite the efforts of the responding officers and apartment complex staff, she was not found inside her residence. The search for Jubane continued for three days, and her body was tragically discovered on the evening of Friday, September 6.
Jubane had married Bryan Llantero just weeks earlier, on August 4, in a ceremony held in Haleʻiwa, O’ahu, on the island of Honolulu. According to reports, her husband last heard from her around 6 a.m. on the morning of her disappearance. The Beaverton Police Department noted in a Facebook post that officers and family members were unable to contact Jubane, as her phone appeared to be turned off. Additionally, searches of her bank and credit card records yielded no new information regarding her whereabouts.
As the investigation progressed, Jubane was entered into national law enforcement databases as a missing person. Eventually, the police identified one of Jubane’s neighbors, 27-year-old Bryce Johnathan Schubert, as a suspect in her disappearance. Schubert was arrested on the evening of September 7 and charged with Jubane’s murder after an extensive investigation linked him to the crime.
The Beaverton Police Department has confirmed that this remains an active investigation and has urged anyone with information to come forward by calling 503.526.2280. The community is mourning the loss of Melissa Jubane, whose life was tragically cut short just weeks after her wedding.
